Native Filmmakers Shoot Dystopian Drama on Pine Ridge Reservation

It’s 2085 on Pine Ridge. The reservation has been quarantined and borders guarded by the military for 30 years. Sparked by the ramifications of the Keystone XL pipeline, the war between the government and the insurgency lasted for eight years and resulted in the dystopian setting that provides the background for "The People," the inaugural project from Indigene Studios.

Based out of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Indigene Studios was co-founded in April 2014 by Willi White, Oglala Lakota, and Angel White Eyes, Oglala Lakota and Ojibwa.
“This is our way of giving back to our communities but also expressing ourselves,” White said. “Non-Natives always come here and sell the same narrative to the mainstream media. We want to change that narrative and give a voice to the stories that are already here.”

Facebook is putting drag queens in danger by forcing them to use their real names

Facebook should read up on its queer history: You never want to mess with drag queens.
Claiming the use of legal names will “keep our community safe,” Facebook has begun shutting down the profiles of individuals who do not to use their “real” or legal names when creating and logging into their accounts. The new requirement is drawing the ire of many in the LGBT community who argue it is a policing tactic that could be harmful to both artistic and queer communities.
How you can join the fight against Facebook

I like how this is focused on Drag Queens instead of trans women, women who are leaving abusive relationships, closeted non-het/non-cis people, you know people who legit might die cause of bullshit like this.

You remember the trans women who works for facebook? The one who made the new gender options? Yeah right now shes fighting this, for us. Shes fighting her own employer to make things right. I just thought you should know.

What trans woman who works at fb?!

Her name is Brielle Harrison. Shes been responsible for the terf pages getting banned and has been a huge help in getting facebook to change policy.

So what you’re saying is that once again drag performers are putting on a show while a trans woman gets things done.

Ouch lol

HEART AND HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY

how the hell do i talk to people

Stand in front of them and press A

(via yourpanicpixienightmare)

in 3 days we age twins again. i go cry now.

ladyoflate said: I'm sorry if this is overly personal, but are there any words that are particularly tasty for you? I don't have synesthesia, but my favorite word is 'soliloquy' because it's so bouncy on the tongue to say.

Heh. The phrase “por ella”, “anatto”, “rinse” and the name “Mako” are all delicious.

I’m extra introspective because my birthday’s coming up, and every year I’m like, “Wow, good for me, right?” Because seriously who ever thought I’d make it this far?

I’m looking forward to calling my sisters and my mom and talking about it. About watching the skin of my face settle triumphantly into the shape of the muscles beneath. About the miracle of continuing stubbornly to exist. About waking up every morning under this sign:

and I wake up a winner. I go to bed a winner.

There’s always the tunnel, and there’s always the light at the end of it. I might always be in one of the tunnels, but I’m also always living in the light at the end of previous tunnels. There’s always a way through.

I will be 33 years old in three days. That is a beautiful miracle.
